One by One Volum' Express by Maybelline NY

I'm a huge fan of mascara's (obviously), because I think mascara's are the best way for a beautiful natural look. If your in a hurry a mascara and a lip gloss are all you need. In some previous posts I mentioned about my current mascara from MAC which I totally adore, but recently I've been seeing a lot of advertisement about the new Maybelline Mascara's which is called One by One Volum' Express.
I know for sure that Maybelinne can be pretty good, and I've tried one of their mascara's once and I have to say that it was not bad at all. I know from lots of review and stuff the Falsies are the best from their line but what caught my eyes on this one was that it supposed to work without the bulk.

The mascara is suposed to make your lashes defined, darkened, lengthened without the bulk. The brush is shape in such a way that it catch, coat, and de-clump every lash one by one.

What do you think about it. Catch or trash?

Skin Types vs Skin Conditions

Hi there,

From the moment you walk through the door, your appearance is appraised and this assessment may last for a long time, possibly even forever. The first thing people will notice is your face, so it's important for you to know your skin.

Renee Reeves who is owner of the-e-girl.blogspot.com recently wrote a post about the various skin types and skin condition. Source: http://the-e-girl.blogspot.com/2011/01/skin-types-vs-skin-conditions.html

There is a difference between skin types and skin condtions!

Skin types and conditions are something I feel everyone should have an adequate understanding of because if you are using skin care products that are not catered to your specific needs you can in fact do more harm than good. We all have specific concerns we want addressed naturally, but a basic understanding of our skin's uniqueness is a sound foundation to build upon.

Skin types unlike conditions are in fact genetically determined meaning you are born with your skin type based on genetics and ethnicity. As with everything in our lives our skin changes over time. The general basis of determining a skin type is based on oil production and the amount of lipids found between the cells. Often skin therapists will look to the T-zone (chin, forehead, and nose) to see pore size as another indicator of skin type. As we age our skin routinely becomes drier as cell renewal and oil/lipid production slow.

Skin types include dry, normal, oily, and combination. Sensitive skin is in fact a condition not a skin type which I will discuss further a little later in my blog entry. Acne is a disorder of the skin and also not considered a skin type or condition. Acne is a chronic disorder of the skin in which inflammation of the oil glands creates breakouts referred to as acne simplex or acne vulgaris. For more information on acne please refer here.

Do you know your skin type?

Dry skin is skin that doesn't produce enough oil to moisturize the skin. This is also referred to as alipidic skin meaning it lacks oil/lipids. The pores will usually be small in size and you will see very little oil production. Dry skin types need extra care as they lack the skin's essential oils for protection against environmental damage, aging, etc. You want to stimulate oil production by using occlusive products such as silicones (look for dimethicone in products) which protect skin's top barrier layer and hold in moisture.

Skin may also become dehydrated which is a condition that can occur during winter/fall seasons. Dehydrated skin is skin lacking water not oil/lipid production. Drink plenty of water and hydrate the skin with moisturizers and humectants to minimize the effects of dryness.

Normal skin has a proper balance of water and oil/lipid production. Pore size is not too small or too large and skin is usually free of blemishes. This skin type requires proper maintenance and preventive care. Using incorrect products can cause excess oil production, acne, dehydration, or other conditions of the skin.

Combination skin will be both oily and dry at the same time. The T-zone is often oily while other areas of the face will be drier or flaky. Pore size often changes from larger to medium just outside the T-zone on the cheeks next to the nose. This is the most difficult of skin types to care for. You must treat each area of the face accordingly to maintain proper oil/lipid and water balance. Deep cleaning and regular exfoliation help keep this skin type free of blemishes. Water based and oil free products will work best.

Oily skin is characterized by excessive oil/lipid production. Pore size will be larger over most of the face. It is essential that this skin type effectively cleanse and exfoliate the skin as it's more prone to blemishes due to buildup of oil and dead skin cells. However, you don't want to over cleanse or exfoliate the skin as this will irritate it. Skin that is over stimulated or dried activates the body's protection mechanism which causes additional oil production to compensate for the dryness and irritation. Oily skin types age the slowest due to having essential oils of the skin which protect from environmental damage, stress, etc. In an essence you get extremes with this skin type - it ages slowest, but is more prone to blemishes.

Ethnic skin types contain more melanin than Caucasian skin. Black, hispanic, asian, and native american skin types have different amounts of pigment. This skin type is fragile. Black skin is prone to hyperkeratosis needing more exfoliation and deep cleansing, however, ages slower due to physiology and extra sun protection. Darker skin types also have higher risk of hyperpigmentation caused by peels and lightening agents. Asian skin is one of the most sensitive types. It has great elasticity, but can hyperpigment from alpha hydroxy use. Native american and hispanic skin types are usually oilier requiring more deep cleansing.

Skin conditions are based off internal and external factors. These include acne, poor elasticity, wrinkles/aging, hyperkeratinization, keratosis, sensitivities, and so forth. Habits, diet, stress, allergies, medications, etc. all play a part in our skin's appearance. Intrinsic factors include attitude, stress, lifestyle, vitamin deficiency, improper nutrition, alcohol/caffeine consumption, hormones, and menopause. Extrinsic factors include sun damage, evironmental exposure, pollutants, air quality, misuse of products, poor facial treatments, and humidity.

Healthy habits for the skin include daily usage of broad spectrum sunscreen, proper home care, skin treatments, good diet, exercise, water intake, and other healthy practices. Contagious diseases, skin disorders, medical conditions, medications, and skin irritation can contraindicate/negate a skin treatment or certain products. Medications using Retinol or topical peeling agents make the skin too sensitive for microdermabrasion or waxing as the skin will lift. Diabetes in severe cases will negate massage as those with diabetes are more likely to bruise with over stimulation of the skin. Cancer also negates massage especially lymphatic which can spread the cancer to the bloodstream and other parts of the body.

It is also important to take note of skin's texture - is it rough or smooth. It's not just about visual perception, but determined through touch with cleansed hands so as to not spread any germs, bacteria, etc. to the skin.

Sensitive skin as a condition is increasingly common as we are constantly bombarded by stress, sun exposure, environmental stimuli, and other unhealthy elements. This skin condition is characterized by redness and easy irritation to products or exposure to heat/sun. You must treat it very gently with calming products to soothe the skin.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Hola,

Today I was reading my cosmopolitan and I saw an ad about the new Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strip. They are just a strip ("sticker") which you apply on your nails. They come in awesome design and are supposed to last up to 10 days. You just select the one thats right for each nail. 16 strips in all, then apply to clean smooth nails. Flexible polish strips for easy application regardless of nail shape or length. The third step is to file excess strip at nail tip for a custom fit. Since there is no dry time your manicure is finished and ready to go.

I really liked the idea, but I wonder if their as good as they look. If you did buy one already let me know how good it was and if not will you consider buying it?

You're perfect...just the way you are!

Hi,

Yesterday I saw the new video of P!nk, F**kin' Perfect. When I saw this video for the first time, tears flowed down my cheeks. The video basically gives a second chance to a suicidal teen to live her life. It shows all the problems and fears that these teen confront. I immediately though to share this with you.

Everyday I blog over everything beauty related, but today I wanted to take some minutes to write what I think is beauty.

Beauty is not that girl with pounds of makeup, but the one who can go out bare-faced and still be confident. There is nothing more sexy than a girl with confidence. We all have flaws. There are many thing I don't like about myself, but what can I do about it. Flaws are what makes us unique and beautiful. When you are confident about yourself and believe you are beautiful just the way you are, than others will believe and accept you too. And if people can't love and accept you the way you are than they probably don't deserve to be in your life anyways. We all hide our want to hide our imperfections with makeup, but you should first accept the flaws before you even think to hide it. Remember you should wear the makeup, it's not the makeup that have to wear you.

Don't EVER let someone bring you down, or let you feel like your not perfect because you are. Maybe your not the size 1 type of girl like but who cares. Maybe your not the large breast who every guy stare at but who cares. People who mind don't matter, and people who matter don't mind. You are beautiful and there is no question about that. For the ones who always have something to say about other peoples looks I suggest you to stop. Know that one of the largest cause of anorexia and lack of self-esteem is because of the opinion of people like you.

If you ever feel like your different it's true, but that is what makes you special. If you ever feel like your not loved you are probably wrong. There are so many people out there that love you and will love you in the future. I LOVE YOU! So rock your flaws and confidence and remember YOUR PERFECT.

Here the video and lyrics:

Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss 'No way, it's all good', it didn't slow me down
Mistaken, always second guessing, underestimated
Look, I'm still around

Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You're f*ckin' perfect to me!

You're so mean, when you talk about yourself, you were wrong
Change the voices in your head, make them like you instead
So complicated, look happy, you'll make it!
Filled with so much hatred...such a tired game
It's enough! I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons, I've seen you do the same

Oh, pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing

You're f*ckin' perfect to me

The whole world's scared so I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in line, and we try try try, but we try too hard and it's a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics, cause they're everywhere
They dont like my jeans, they don't get my hair
Exchange ourselves, and we do it all the time
Why do we do that? Why do I do that?

Why do I do that..?

Yeah, oh, oh baby, pretty baby..!
Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel
Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me
You're perfect, you're perfect!
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You're fuckin' perfect to me...

Q&A Session

Hi,

Today I was going through some magazines websites and I came with a Q&A page in Cosmpolitan. Here they put different beauty questions with the respected answer. Many of them were things that I sometimes wondered myself so I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you guys. Maybe someday I even start a Q&A Day. Anyways here are some of the most interesting Q&A that I found.

Q:I plucked off almost all my brows. Can I fill them in without getting a drawn-on effect?
A:Remember the three Fs: fill, fix, and feather, says celeb makeup artist Brett Freedman. First, pick a pencil that matches your brow color. Fill in the entire brow, not just bald spots — this is key to making sure everything blends together. Then fix extra thin areas (like where your outer brow connects to the arch) with more pencil. Finish by feathering out the color: Brush a clean mascara wand through each brow in short strokes to diffuse any harsh lines.

Q:Even after I remove my makeup, I have dark rings around my eyes. What can I do?
A:You're probably not washing off all your mascara. "Go for an eye-makeup remover that contains equal parts of oil and water," advises derm Kenneth Beer, of Palm Beach, Florida. Choose a bottle that shows the two layers of oil and water separated-this way, you know there’s an even ratio. Try Victoria's Secret Very Sexy

Q:Can I temporarily cover a tattoo?
A:Try this three-step process from celeb makeup artist Mary Burton, who regularly hides stars' tattoos from the camera. (1) Dab a heavier concealer (like Lancôme Maquicomplet Concealer, $27.50) that matches your skin tone over your ink as well as an inch around it. Then rip a makeup sponge in half (the rough edge diffuses any hard lines), and blot to blend everything in. (2) Mist on a spray foundation to make the coverage look seamless and give another layer of camouflage. (3) Dust on a translucent powder with a big powder brush to set things in place.

Q:When I put mascara on my bottom lashes, it gets underneath my eyes. What am I doing wrong?
A:The trick is to apply the mascara using the tip of the wand, says makeup artist Jeannia Robinette. Then comb out the excess with a minibrush. She likes the one that comes in the dual-ended Le 2 De Guerlain Mascara, $35.

Q:Is there any way to make my fragrance last longer?
A:Fragrance evaporates faster on dry skin, so be sure your diet includes moisturizing omega-3 fatty acids. Or look for a scent that rereleases with surface changes (for example, when you rub your wrists together) so it lingers. Try Thierry Mugler’s Angel body line.

These are just some of the question that I encountered. At first they might seem like unimportant issues, but when I actually saw the answers I knew that it's not that unimportant as I thought. More coming soon!

New Stuffz...

Ghelow,

As I said before I did some shopping yesterday which I was pretty excited for. Like every good girl I'm keeping my promise and showing you all what I bought. I still haven't bought everything I needed, but I guess that just need to wait for now.

In one of my first post I mentioned how important it is to clean you face when you start doing makeup. I did a little research on the internet and found amazing reviews about Neutrogena, so I bought it immediately. The right one is the Cleanser which you apply when washing the face. The good of it is that it also remove makeup even waterproof makeup. Other thing that I liked about it is that it don't leave your oily like the first makeup removal I bought. The left bottle is the Toner which you apply after washing the face. After the cleaning process you really feel a fresh skin (literally). What I found a little disappointed is that it don't leave your skin very soft. But I would say that in generally it works.

I also bought this amazing Hot Air Brush. It's from Conair as you see in the picture. I used it today and it was a miracle. I like the Hot Air Brush's a lot more than the usual straightener because I feel like its less damaging. There is less heat on your hair than a straightener and it gives a more softer look. Try it out

Then I bought the Black Opel Deluxe Finishing Powder 03 Medium. I was never a fan of Black Opel but tried it anyways, and I've to say that it's pretty good though.
Also I bought a liquid eyeliner from L.A. Colors. I found it so cool because it was like a marker, so it felt like easier to use. I haven't use it yet, so I don't really know how good it is but I'll let you know.
I saw also the bronzer of Rimmel London. I was actually going for the Milani Bronzer, but because there were non I decided to go for this one. Besides I always loved Rimmel London. Then I bough the L.A Colors Lash Building Mascara (Clear) which I actually use to brush my eyebrow. I've doing this for years now and it's just awesome. I used the Avon first, so know I've just have to figure out if this one is as good as the Avon.

So that was basically it. I can give you guys a review yet, because I haven't use many of them or at least not often enough. Don't worry when I know enough about them, I'll tell you guys right away.

Shopping Diet

Hola sweethearts,

Yesterday I did a lil shopping (which I'll be posting soon) and I was really really happy. But then when I came home I saw how much I spent which was more than I expected. Everything I bought was necessary, but then I started doing some thinking. How can I buy everything I need, satisfy my shopping needs but still save money. It all came down to these following tips.

First and most important thing is to make a monthly budget. I know you may think its silly, because you've already tried it and it didn't work but it's essential to have some kind pad to follow. A budget is the best way to have control over your money. Make a list of all your expenses, and be realistic. Don't put 20 bucks a month for shopping when you know you'll be spending a lot more than that. It can happen that one month you spent more than what you thought, in that case lower one other icon in your budget. Like party money. If you know that month you'll be spending more on another thing, than note that you have the budget less for the shopping part.

Make a list of everything you need or want. In some cases be specific. For example, if u need a bronzer but u don'r want a expensive bronzer write something like: Drugstore Bronzer. Don't leave your list at home when shopping, because sometimes in the rush of shopping your just gonna look at your list and go directly to the designated store. Then put priorities. What do I need first and what can wait? Unless your a millionaire I don't think you can buy everything at one.

Don't get overexcited or let others influence you. This is my weakest point.  Not because your friend told you about that awesome lipstick than it means that you should go buy it. Wait first and let the excitement cool down. Put it in your budget and then when its the adequate time go buy it.

Not because daddy give you a  50 bucks extra on Monday, then you should go running to the nearest store on Tuesday. Again wait and think. Whats more awesome....having 50 this week to spend or 100 next week? Exactly!

I always have this thought that if you find something super cheap, BUY IT! This is a extremely dangerous thing, which I learned to handle over time. It's sometimes very clever when you buy something in discount by accident, but never buy something you don't need.

And then we have the rule of thumb which is b.t.w. the hardest. AVOID TEMPATION! I guess that rule don't need explanation.

One good thing about buying makeup instead of clothing is that you can always keep using it. No matter the season or year.

I'm still trying to control my addiction, so if you have any recommendation or question just let me know!

No one can resist free stuff!

Hi Dolls,

Yesterday I was searching through the web for some makeup and then one thing led to the other. I came across on eHow on how to get free stuff reviewing products. This article mainly explained the ways to start doing reviews etc. Then I saw a link about getting free samples. I immediately clicked on it, cuz lets be honest; free stuff are the best! I never thought I could get samples online, but it's possible and very easy. If you live abroad then all you need is a US address. Their are many companies nowadays who give you a US address and then ship it to you. Just look for one in your country.

Free product samples are out there and they are easy to get. Some items are easier to get than others. Some stores and websites list the items they are offering to sample for free. One of the best sites is www.Walmart.com. Under the search box type in free samples . You can click on the particular item and request a free product sample. I have noticed that the Walmart samples come in faster than samples from other sites. The only downsize is that it can take around 4-6 weeks for them to ship it to you. I know it's a lot, but just be patient. You can also check on the webpage of the product itself. There are some product where u need to subscribe for their newsletters to get samples. Its sometimes a little annoying, but remember that you'll get notified immediately when there is a sample out there.

Search also through Google, but remember to watch out for spam. Some of the websites ask you to do a little survey and if you have time and want to then do it. If not just close it. D

Don't second guess!!! Samples get out of stock really quick, so if you see something you like order it immediately.

Yesterday I ordered a sample of the new CoverGirl Natureluxe Foundation and a also 2 parfumes Gucci and Lacoste. I'm really excited for all the stuffs, but it still sad how I have to wait so long. So if you really would like some free stuff, hurry up and start searching. If u find anything let me know!!!

I never saw one movie that I disliked. Namasake, My name is Khan, and Saawariya were some of the many great movies of Bollywood that I totally loved. It's the language, the acting (they always have such great facial expressions), the dancing, and all the culture portrayed that leaves me completely in love with everything of this country.
