Blogger in the Spotlight: Tanja

Chictopia+Lookbook: Tanja__
IFB: Tanii
Current Location: Somewhere in Switzerland in a small village.
Hometown: Banja Luka,Bosnia & Hercegovina
Age: 13
Profession: Student
Language: Serbo-Croate,German
Your style (in couple of words): Trendy, experimentful, sometimes crazy, loves to combine things with others they don't look great alone.

How long have you been blogging?
Now for 4 months.

What was the reason that you've started blogging?
I was fascinated with fashion as a little child. As I got 10 years I start to follow fashion blogs and now that I'm 13 I thought: Why don't you do all the things you read for 3 years or so alone? Why are you just looking at the others, but don't doing anything? That was the moment it changes.

What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
I think the biggest challenge of every blogger is writing exciting posts and get more and more readers. I learned in this 4 months a lot of writing texts, what you must write etc. Just do something that others don't, then you will get exciting posts and if you do some publicity, maybe more readers.

What do you like about blogging?
The best thing about blogging is you can write every thing, that suppresses you.Everything that is on your soul, you don't want to say loud. But I like it too, that you get sometimes such nice comments like: Your blog is so great! That is really helpful.

What would you like to change about your blog?
Hmm...I don't know really, but I would be happy to get a more beautiful layout and that my english change into a better one.

Any future plans for your blog?
No, I live from one day to the other. I'm not thinking about tomorrow. But every blogger has one wish: To be a blogger at the "toplist" as I call it.

Who inspires you (blog)?
Mostly pictures, I find on the web, a vision of something. But sometimes a really small thing can inspire me or my friends & family.

Fashion Icon: Emma Watson

Favorite clothing item: Jewelry and Shoes
Favorite brand: Dior, D&G, Primark, and H&M
Favorite Celebrity: There are so many celebrities they inspire me!
What would be your dream job: To be a musician or a fashion designer! But something in the fashion scene would be enough.
Where do you dream to live: In a big city like London, Paris or New York.
Hobbies: Reading, writing my book, singing, drawing, meet my friends, shopping, photography, swimming, travelling

Any beauty/fashion tip?
If you wear some great jewelry and heels, your outfit is perfect! The less is more.

Any advice for someone who aspire to be a blogger like you?
Just do something YOU love, not of others. Write about something the others don't write, your blog will get more and more visitors because you are unique. Don't look at the (negative) meanings of people about you, if you are happy, then it's all okay.

Tell us something particular of you.
I have a really big wardrobe, so I have 1 hour looking around what I'm wearing :)
You don't want to see the mess after this!

Pony the Hair

A ponytail is and always will be a styling basic. You have all type of variants but these celebrities show us their signature version. Whether it’s poufed, tousled, or worn to the side they sure leave their mark in the ponytail world.

KIM KARDASHIAN
            The Pony with a Pouf
“Sometimes a slicked-back ponytail can appear a little harsh,” says Kardashian’s hairstylist Rob Scheppy. “Kim like this style because it’s looser – the volume gives it a softer look.”

BLAKE LIVELY
            The Breezy Pony
There’s a reason why Lively revisits thin pony again and again. “It feels like you’re not trying too hard,” says the star’s hairstylist Jennifer Johnson. It’s also red-carpet-ready: “When she’s wearing a fancy dress, the hair softens it.” Movement is key, so if your strands are poker-straight, Johnson says, wrap a few section around curling iron before pulling them back.

SELENA GOMEZ

            The Side Pony
Unlike the mile-high side ponytails that teen girls went crazy for in the ‘80s, this version is “sophisticated, yet still fun and flirty,” says Gomez’s hairstylist John D. Whether you wear it wavy or straight, location is key – keep it low and close to the head to avoid and unwelcome nostalgia trip.

Denim Here, Denim There, Denim Everywhere

Back to school is around the corner and in all magazine editions (teen) its all about school outfits. Now a standard fashion piece for school has always been denim but when is it too much? Don't it give you a feeling like denim is last season and a bit tacky?

After reading Teen Vogue and Seventeen I was overwhelmed with denim. Denim jackets, denim jeans, denim bag, denim skirts etc. etc.

Now I think denim is a little bit overrated and sometimes it even make me feel like its just plain cheap. Now would you wear denim? What is you favorite denim fashion  piece?

Brushology: Get Cheeky

After writing about brushes for prepping the face we now continue with brushes for blushing and bronzing. The Beauty Department give us all information about what brushes are the best for contouring etc.

  • Cheekbones (powder blush): Look for natural hair bristles and an angled tip to perfectly sculpt and shape cheekbones. To find where yours are, look in the mirror and suck in your cheeks, then work the brush directly on them using short strokes as you make your way across towards your ears.
  • Apples (powder blush): Look for natural bristles and a plump body with a pointed tip for the best precision when applying blush to the apples of your cheeks. To find where yours are, look in the mirror and smile; your apples will literally pop out like little golf balls. Swirl the blush in circular motions directly on top of them.
  • Stippling (cream blush): Look for synthetic bristles in two layers that are different colors, a dark set that is dense and short and a lighter set that is long and sparse. This design picks up two layers when you gently dip it in your cream blush, allowing for different outcomes when swirling it from the apples across your cheekbones (light pressure = sheer finish, heavier pressure = satin finish). Then blend edges with your fingers.
  • Contouring (cream or powder bronzer): Look for synthetic bristles if you are using a cream bronzer or a cream foundation three shades darker than your skin tone; look for natural bristles if you are using a bronzing powder.  Using short strokes, trace the product directly under your cheekbone in the hollows of your cheeks, up to your temples, across your hairline and under your jawline.
  • Highlighting (loose or pressed highlighting powder): Look for natural bristles in a fan shape that feel light and airy on your skin. This design is perfect for sweeping a shimmery highlighting powder directly above your cheekbones using light, downward strokes. Bonus: fan brushes were originally developed to “dust” away excess powder or shadow particles, so next time you create a smoky eye and there are little black shadow droppings that have fallen on your cheeks, use your fan brush like a duster to sweep them away.
  • Bronzing (loose or pressed powder bronzer): Look for natural bristles with a rounded head for the most even application.  Unlike using bronzer for contouring, here we’re using it to look sunkissed, so this brush design is ideal to evenly distribute, diffuse and blend the powder as you swirl it all over your face and neck.
  • Blending (everything!): This Botan Brush by NARS is the only one of its kind out there and a must-have splurge for serious make-up artists. It has short and dense natural bristles that cover almost two inches in diameter and is the ultimate blender to use following blush, bronzer or powder application.  Bonus trick: if you use a foundation or bronzer that comes in a spray can, instead of applying it directly to your face, spray it in the palm of your hand, dip the Botan Brush in it then swirl it all over your face and neck for an airbrushed look that is simply gorgeous.

Let Me Introduce You To My Fashion Lifestyle

It was a Sunday morning/afternoon when I heard my phone vibrating. I was having a really bad day and all I could think of was: "Who the hell is it now?" I checked my phone and saw that I had a Facebook message. I've started reading it and after every line my smile just got bigger. The message basically stated that I was chosen to be a beauty blogger for My Fashion Lifestyle.

My Fashion Lifestyle will contain content directed towards both men and women who live in the Caribbean or people worldwide who have an interest in Caribbean fashion and lifestyle.

Caribbean fashion and lifestyle is the primary focus of My Fashion Lifestyle, presenting and introducing new talented fashion designers, make-up & beauty, amazing accessories, trendy fashion (online) stores, Caribbean lifestyle products, special events, breathtaking holiday destinations, delicious cuisine and inspirational music combined with the local flavor of the Caribbean culture.

Myfashionlifestyle.com looks to highlight the fact that there is more to the Caribbean than simply its breathtaking beaches, clear blue waters and palm trees. The Caribbean has many undiscovered qualities.

To get this opportunity being still a new blogger and at such a young age is a real honor for me. For this
website I have a column which I'll be posting about everything beauty related for the young generation.

I'm really looking forward to work with all these amazing peoples and I can assure you that this is going to be BIG.

Go check out the website of My Fashion Lifestyle and follow them on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with all their activities.

Age: 28
Profession: Freelance Graphic Designer, Administrative Assistant, political coordinator & PR for a Legislator/ Fashion Designer/ Freelance Stylist
Language: English

Your Style: My style is very clean, and simple, I like to think that classic when I’m dressing. When I get really dressy I tend to dress like the ladies of “Mad Men” really girly. I don’t care for a whole lot of prints or logos plastered all on my cloths because that type of stuff tends to go out of style. I wear a lot of black & natural colors, I do love me some color though, so I will add a pop out color to my nails or it would be my hand bag, scarf, shoes, accessories, etc, or I will tend to put in a nice stable print.

How long have you been blogging?
About 8 months now.

What was the reason that you’ve started blogging?
Honestly I felt myself slipping away from my passion (fashion) I was so consumed with my work in politics, I just felt like I couldn’t stray too far from my first love (fashion) So I felt like this would be a good way to keep in touch and get reacquainted with it. Staying in the know and making sure other fabulous fashionistas stay in the know about the forever evolutionarily changes in fashion.

What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenged would have to be the lost of three little angels at one time (all of my children). How did I overcome it? I will never get over it, but I am trying to get through it. Whit the grace of God, and the fact that I have seen the Lord work before my very eyes at a young age, is what keeps me. I know that he has a perfect plan, and I may not understand it, but I know that he knows whats best for me and them. I know that they are in a place where we desire to be, so that helps as well. I know that I will see them again when It’s my time.

What do you like about blogging?
I like when other people read it and comment. Knowing that others enjoy it makes me feel good.
What would you like to change about your blog? Most definitely the layout, I can’t figure out for the life of me how to add advertisements or buttons for something different. I’d also like to have more time for it.

Any future plans for your blog?
I would like to eventually put some of my stuff up, but I’m not ready.

Who inspires you (blog)?
My daughter Jordan inspires my blog, she was the only girl I had, she was the oldest and she loved fashion. While I was attending the Art Institute of Chicago she was about 3 years old and she was picking up on everything I was doing, she was very artistic and creative and as she got older she told me her dreams of going to Paris and working in fashion. I know that she would want me to not give up on life and live for her, for them, and peruse my dreams. I know that will make her happy. I do it for her. That is why my blog is called Fashion for Jo Jo, Jo Jo was her nick name.

Fashion Icon: Jordan Robinson (My Daughter), Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Co Co Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Gianni & Donatella Versace, and Halston

Favorite clothing item: Shoes & accessories. They can literally make or brake an outfit. Not only that, but your day outfit can always turn into an evening outfit with the right shoes and accessories. I feel that these items are the soul of an outfit.

Favorite Brand: Can I say all of them? Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Halston
Favorite Celebrity: Sean “Diddy” Combs. I’m sorry, all of my friends don’t like him, but I have always admired that man’s business skills, he literally build his worth from the bottom up. Discipline and dedication. I mean, I could never be one of his artist but the man knows his business.

What would be your dream job:
My dream job would be to just really be my own Boss, to really be able to focus on just my fashion designing. I love being creative and making other people look good and feel great about them self. To have my own line would be love.

Where do you dream to live:
I’m already here. I love Chicago, even the crazy weather. This city just has so much, the sky line is amazing on a summer’s night and its not overly priced. Summertime Chi is unlike any other place I’ve ever been. If I did have to live somewhere else, I know one thing...I’d have to always come back to the Chi for the summers. But if I had to be somewhere other than the Chi , I would have to say Paris. (Why not Paris)

Hobbies:
Polyvore Website
Reading
Drawing
Gun Practice at the Gun Range
Sewing
Volunteering
Cooking

Beauty/Fashion Tip
What ever you decide to put on, just be confidant in your own skin.

Any advice for someone who aspire to be a blogger like you?
Just write about what you love, don’t pretend to know everything. Be completely honest with your self. If you like something, you like it, if you don’t, you don’t and thats okay. Stand behind your work and your beliefs.

Tell us something particular of you.
I’m not a morning person, though I would like to be. I love & have all things iMac, though I am also fluent in PC.

I finally got around to post my first giveaway. It took awhile, but I wanted to be sure about the prizes and everything.

Well like all of you may already know I'm moving this summer so that means that I have to throw some things away. While I was cleaning up my room I found some really amazing things that I though it would be a real bummer to throw them away. Some of them were never even used. I decided then to use them for my giveaway. Now I think this idea way better than what I've already had planned.

The giveaway consist of 4 pieces that one of my lucky followers can win. Sorry about the quality of the photos. I took them with my phone.

First is a jewelry holder that I absolutely love. I've used it for 3 month only and I just think its the best thing ever.

Then I have this little room decor. I've never used this one, because I already had one of them. I don't know what you can call it, but you can put like pictures, or little notes in it. I use to put quotes on the other one and place it one my desk. Its from a rustic metallic material and the holders are heart-shaped.

Last is 2 black and white polka dots makeup bag. Good for traveling.  This was the first thing i bought for the giveaway

Profession: Freelance Graphic Designer

Your style (in couple of words): minimal, casual, chic

How long have you been blogging?
Since March 2010

What was the reason that you've started blogging?
I was looking for a place to gather everything that inspired me- clothes, stuff I wanted to buy, dream outfits, inspirational photos, etc. I had been reading a couple blogs for about a year before I started my own and just thought this seems easy- I know what I want to write about, just take the plunge and start your own blog already!

What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge (which is still something I'm working on) is getting more traffic and readers. I didn't realize the importance of networking with other bloggers; so now I'm on twitter, I visit other blogs and comment on them, and I joined a few communities (like IFB, FBFF and Full Time Fashion).

What do you like about blogging?
Now that I take outfit photos, I find that I'm dressing better in real life! I want to practice what I preach, I guess. Also I like getting to know a ton of other amazing people who I normally wouldn't have met if it wasn't for blogging.

What would you like to change about your blog?
I'd like to be more organized. Now that I've been at it for a little over a year, I have my blogging style down, so I can refocus my posts instead of being all over the place with it like I was a year ago.

Any future plans for your blog?
A re-design of the layout that I'm currently working on. I also have a few ideas in the works, so you'll have to stay tuned :)

Who inspires you (blog)?
Other bloggers, magazines, books, art, movies, celebrity fashion, Shopbop emails (ha!)

Fashion Icon: Ashley Olsen, Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere, Diane Von Furstenberg
Favorite clothing item: right now, my Chambray shirt
Favorite brand: I don't have one favorite, but I love Elizabeth & James and DVF
Favorite Celebrity: Ashley Tisdale
What would be your dream job: Pretty much what I'm doing now, but getting paid more for it!
Where do you dream to live: hmm... I like to be near a big city but also close to the ocean (so I'm good.) But I dream more of traveling the world than where I want to live.
Hobbies: Photography, blogging (obviously), watching movies & catching up on TV shows online, daydreaming

Any beauty/fashion tip?
Keep it simple, stay true to yourself and don't let the trends overtake your personal style! Don't be afraid to take risks.

Any advice for someone who aspire to be a blogger like you?
Network! Have good, original content. Be organized and friendly.

Tell us something particular of you. If I could, I'd join the circus :)
